• “La Pecera” or The Fish Tank is a place of peace and tranquility where one can enjoy marine life without the stress of dangerous currents or the open sea. It is very convenient to get there as there is parking available (costs $5). Many people park at the first parking lot and end up going to Escambrón Beach(#8). To get to the La Pecera(#9), a neighboring beach that is much calmer, keep following the guide and park at the furthest parking lot located to the left of “Playa 9” in the image below (next to the palm trees).

• After several attempts to reach this place, tempted to stay longer at the beautiful spots we found along the way, we finally arrived at the location known as La Zanja. To reach La Zanja, we skirted the heads of San Juan, and after a walk of about 2 miles, we arrived at this hidden place with crystal clear water and the appearance of a natural jacuzzi. Did you know they also call it “La Chiva Natural”?

• This historical place located right across El Viejo San Juan, has been extremely influential in Puerto Rico’s history and the production of rum in the island. Currently, the Bacardi House offers interactive guided tours through the factories and several rum tasting activities. • El Yunque is the only Rain Forrest in U.S. territory. Having visited el Yunque more than 20 times myself, I can speak about it’s magic and splendor. El Yunque is the place to go if you’re looking for an adventure. It has hike’s that go from anywhere in the 15 minute range to an 8 hours range. People frequent El Yunque to admire Puerto Rican flora and fauna. and click here : 🧭.

• Eco’s is an entertainment hub. It counts with dining stations, two bars, three indoor soccer fields, two beach volleyball (and beach tennis) spaces, two basketball (and volleyball) courts, and squash spaces. It’s a place to hangout with good vibes and quality music. Whether it’s watching a the NBA playoffs in the big screen or attending the Fortnite tournaments hosted in the play room, it’s always a great time. Eco’s usually hosts live music and events.

• Built relatively recently in 2015, the Mall of San Juan is the home to more than 100 stores including Zara, Banana Republic, Urban Outfitters, Victoria’s Secret, Hollister, Vans, among others. Its third level has a series of restaurants that are very good. I’d recommend Vin’us, Metropol, and Tijuana’s. The gelato store that is also located in the third floor is exquisite. There is live music occasionally in the terrace as well as an amazing view of the San Jose lake.

• If you’re looking for a roadtrip but don’t want to go too far away from San Juan, Piñones is a great option. It has great beaches like Vacia Talega and La Posita de Piñones. The latter is a great option to consider specially when the tide is up and you’re looking for a place with no waves. Piñones is a culturally rich town with a lot of “kioskos” where you can find sea food, “pinchos” (chicken on a stick basically), “empanadillas”, “bacalaitos”, and a bunch of other delicious, Puerto Rican meals/snacks.

• District Live is a magical place located near Viejo San Juan next to Puerto Rico’s Convention Center. Its an entertainment hub that counts with a movie theatre, a concert hall, a hotel, several bars, restaurants, and even a zipline! The architecture is stunning and something truly unique. When the final game of the Fifa or a UFC night fight comes around, District is the place to be. 🧭

• Did you know the biggest mall in the Caribbean is located in San Juan, Puerto Rico? More than 300 stores are located in Plaza las Americas. I guarentee you’ll walk out with what you were looking for after going to “Plaza”, as it is called by many. My favorite locations in “Plaza” are Caribbean Cinemas, PF Changs, and Ponte Fresco. • Right after the Cueva del Indio me and my friends would take time to cool off and relax in the long stretch of beach known as Playa Caza y Pesca. This beach leads to La Poza del Obispo, a small, very relaxing cove. Not a lot of people frequent this beach and that’s one of the reasons I love it. There’s always something new to explore and not to mention the jaw dropping sunsets seen from anywhere along the stretch.
